Members of the Dynastidae beetles are also known as rhinoceros beetles due to their horns borne by most males of most species in the group. The males use their horns and Herculean strength to battle other males for the rights to mate.
The larger species such as Chalcosoma (Three horned beetle), Dynastes Hercules (Unicorn beetle) or Megasoma (Elephant beetle) are considered in proportion the strongest animals on the planet. As such, due to their large sizes, they are often sought after by collectors.
